The Tax Administration Department supervises the timely collection and disposition of taxes, authorized fees, and assessments within the County. The Tax Administration Department also collects property taxes levied by the City of Durham, portioned by the Town of Chapel Hill, City of Raleigh and special fire and safety districts. The Durham County Tax Administration Department has joined with Voice Data Solutions and Nex Gen make paying your property taxes faster, easier and more convenient.
On-Line Bill Presentment and E-check Payment.
Durham County Tax Administration has partnered with Voice Data Solutions and NexGen Digital Document Solutions to provide this service for the citizens of Durham County.
Using this website, a taxpayer can reproduce a copy of a bill and can choose to pay the bill online from their checking account. Taxpayers that want to pay the traditional way can print a copy of their bill and mail it through the US Mail at the address provided on the bill or can pay in person at 200 E. Main St, First Floor, Durham, NC.
Please note that the payment transaction history displayed through this website shows the payments that have been made within the last 24 hours.

Credit Card Payment Options
Durham County Tax Administration has partnered with Voice Data Solutions and NexGen Digital Document Solutions to allow our citizens to pay their property taxes with a credit or debit card via the internet or by telephone Credit card payments will require a payment in full there are no partial payments accepted using the credit card method.
You will be charged a convenience fee for this service. It is paid directly to Voice Data Solutions. (CC Payments) for your use of their automated service. This fee is not part of your tax, and Durham County does not receive the convenience fee. The convenience fee will be displayed on your screen prior to submitting payment and if using the phone system this fee will be provided prior to submitting for payment.

If at anytime you are accessing the telephone or online payment systems and decide you do not wish to pay the convenience fee, you may exit the phone system or you must empty your payment cart.
Pay Your Taxes On-Line
To Pay Your Taxes on Line you will need to use the Public Records Search please use the following instructions when paying online:
- Click on the following link: Real Property and Tax Bill Record Searches on the Durham County website.
- Have your valid credit card ready!
- You must search the public database to find your information by the following, name, location address, account number or receipt number or parcel number.
- Select the bills you wish to pay by adding to your payment cart.
- Once you have completed your selections you will need to click on the link that you wish to pay by credit card or e-check.
- The system will request the required information from your credit card or checking account. Upon completion of the transaction you will be issued a receipt.
- If you review you account again the balance on the bill(s) you have paid should indicate a zero balance unless partial payment by e-check has been processed. Credit card transactions will require payment in full.
- Within 24 hours of your transaction you can obtain a internet receipt from your transaction history via the Durham County Tax Department home page under Public Record Search
Pay Your Taxes by Telephone
To pay your property taxes by telephone... Call toll-free 1-866 -892-0656 using a touch tone phone to make a payment.
You will be charged a convenience fee for this service. This fee is paid directly to Voice Data Solutions for your use of this automated service. This fee is not part of your tax, and Durham County does not receive the convenience fee. The average phone call takes two to three. Please follow these instructions:
- Have a bill with tax Year and Receipt Number. You can obtain this information by using the Real Property and Tax Bill Record Searches on the Durham County website.
- You can search the public record search by name, address, account number and parcel number.
- Obtain the year and receipt that you wish to make payment on.
- Have your valid credit card ready!
- You will be asked to enter the following information on your touch tone telephone:
- Tax year and receipt number. You will then hear the terms and conditions for making a payment to Durham County.
- The amount that is due on such receipt to pay will be provided.
- You will be informed of the convenience fee charged for this payment amount.
- You will be instructed to press the appropriate number to accept the payment.
- Your credit card number.
- Your credit card's expiration date _ _/_ _
- Your ZIP code where your credit card bill is sent.
- Your telephone number. We may contact you if any clarification is needed.
- At the end of the call you will be given a confirmation number. Please write this number down and save it for your records.
When paying by telephone, your account is credited to your account immediately. To obtain a receipt for your payment you may visit the Durham County Public Record Search on our website. The bill you paid should indicate a zero amount due. You can obtain a internet receipt for the amount of your payment within 24 hours of the transaction.
