Transportation
The Transportation unit, operating under the Civil Division, has responsibility for transporting prisoners to and from other jails and the Department of Corrections to the Judicial Building for court, as well as, transporting them to other facilities after they have been sentenced in court.

This unit also transports inmates within the Durham Detention Facility to other units for incarceration with the state. In addition, they will transport inmates for the Detention Facility who require patient care to hospitals.

Another area that falls under the Transportation unit is transport of all individuals who have been or are being determined to need involuntary commitment to psychiatric hospitals and substance abuse facilities.
