Emergency Response Team

An Emergency Response Team is responsible for providing enforcement services within the County of Durham. This unit is comprised of officers specially trained in emergency situations and equipped to respond to hostage, terrorist incidents, dignitary protection, drug raids, high-risk arrests and search warrants and to support Durham County Detention Services. This unit consists of five tactical entry specialists and two marksmen. The unit is on-call 24 hours a day and is a decentralized unit where team members are assigned to various divisions throughout the Office of the Sheriff. They have routine operational duties in addition to their team responsibilities.
