Bull City Streets

Bull City Streets started with a simple idea. The Sheriff?s Office should be able to do something to stimulate community interest in community oriented projects and programs. The goal of Bull City Streets is to provide its viewers with important and insightful information that they may have missed during a busy week at work. Bull City Streets visits nursing homes and community centers as it follows the deputies working in "TRIAD", a cooperative effort between law enforcement and senior citizens working to address the needs of the elderly. Bull City Streets talks to young people. It reports on the progress of the D.A.R.E. PROGRAM, Drug Abuse  Resistance Education, and covers events like the annual D.A.R.E. Walk and D.A.R.E. Graduations to give parents who work a chance to see their children receive their certificates of graduation from the program. Bull City Streets peers beneath the surface of the "SCHOOL RESOURCE OFFICERS PROGRAM", SRO. It helps people understand that the SRO is not just a deputy in a school but someone who provides assistance to students, parents, the principal and the teachers. It gives insight into student organized programs like "S.A.D.D.", Students Against Destructive Decisions and "S.A.V.E.", Students Against Violence Everywhere. The show also follows the activities of local organizations like the Civitan Clubs which sponsor a variety of events including an annual Run that raises money for community oriented programs and the Citizens Safety Committee which takes hundreds of young people to Washington, D.C. every year. Bull City Streets is a Sheriff?s Office Community Oriented Program. The show focuses on local events and the Roles and Services of the Durham County Sheriff?s Office.
