Durham,
N.C. – Saving paper and increasing convenience, Durham County’s Human
Resources Department will launch its online recruitment process on Monday,
August 31. Online recruitment will
enable applicants to apply directly on the Human Resources Web page once the system goes live.
“Applicants
will find the online recruitment option convenient and easy to use,” said Yvette
R. Leonard, manager of employment services for Durham County Human Resources
Department. “The new hiring program streamlines and
expedites the current process.”
For years,
applicants interested in employment with Durham County Government would have to
obtain an application then drop off, fax, or e-mail or mail their completed form
to Human Resources. The outdated
process does not parallel with the sustainable goals of the County. Stepping into the 21st
century of technology advances, the new online application system reduces
paperwork thereby improving the environment. It also reduces wait time for receipt of
qualified candidates, allows applicants to apply for more than one position at a
time and easily update or modify their online application, and enables
applications to be maintained in an electronic system preventing paperwork from
being misplaced or lost.
Durham County
Government remains under a partial hiring freeze, only recruiting for positions
deemed critical to the organization or those funded through grants. “Once our hiring freeze is lifted, there
will be a system in place that makes the application process more fluid and
accessible for all applicants,” said Leonard.
