Vital Records is responsible for registering Durham County births and deaths, completing affidavits and issuing forms for disinterments/reinterments, burial transit and removal of graves. Office hours are from 8:30 to 12:00 PM and from 1:00 to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday. For more information, call (919) 560-7670.
Beginning July 2, 2007 certified copies of birth and death certificates, amendments and legitimations must be obtained at the Durham County Register of Deeds Office, located on the ground floor of the County Administration Building at 200 E. Main Street. Office hours of the Register of Deeds Office are from 8:30 to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
