The mission of the Information Technology Department is to plan, manage, and support Durham County Government's information resources.
|
|
| The Network Services Division of the Information Technology department primary functions include developing, maintaining, and securing a highly reliable network infrastructure that is the backbone of the county network and to provide and maintain network servers and their application services supporting Durham County Government departments/agencies and their functions.
Our network engineer staff plans, evaluates, and designs our network infrastructure and monitors its effectiveness to ensure sustained reliable and secure operations. They ensure successful implementation/integration of applications and systems on and across the network.
Our network administration staff maintain and administrate established systems and servers such as the county's electronic mail, database, and Inter and Intranet. They maintain server and system backup and disaster recovery operations as well as the day-to-day support of client-server applications and systems on the network.
Our network technician staff monitors, tests, troubleshoots, and restores hardware and software problems from network cabling to the desktop for our end users. They are the face most county employees come to know when they have a problem.
Our goal is to provide our users reliable, effective, and efficient network infrastructure and network services and to maintain pace with technologies that enable and empower our users to best serve Durham County. |
