- January, 2008 - Mandatory Recycling for Certain ABC Permit Holders in State of North Carolina begins January 1, 2008.
- December, 2008 - Remember to Practice the Three R’s (Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle) during the Holiday Season!
- November, 2007 - The Solid Waste Division within the General Services Department was named a recipient of a National Recycling Bin Grant sponsored by the National Recycling Coalition and Coca-Cola.
- October, 2007 - The Solid Waste Division within the General Services Department is partnering with Habitat for Humanity of Durham County to raise funds to build homes for needy family through aluminum can recycling.
- October, 2007 - The Solid Waste Division within the General Services Department is partnering with the Wright School to assist them in starting and maintaining a school recycling program.
