The Fire Marshal's Office is responsible for enforcing the Durham County Fire Protection Code. Enforcement begins with plan review for new construction projects, progresses through the construction process with all the required inspections up to and including the final inspection, and then provides for continuing safety through annual fire prevention inspections to ensure that the building remains safe.
