ELECTRONICS BENEFITS TRANSFER (EBT)
ABOUT EBT Electronics Benefits Transfer or EBT is the new way food stamp benefits are distributed in North Carolina. When purchasing approved food products, a plastic card is used instead of paper coupons.
APPEARANCE Your EBT card will be a plastic card that is colored red, white and blue. It will have your account number, your name and a place for your signature.
HOW TO USE THE CARD To make food purchases you will run your card through the electronic machine at the store and enter your 4-digit PIN number when you check out. It is that easy.
EBT AND PIN TRAINING When you receive your card you will need to schedule and attend training to learn about the EBT program and how to use the card. You will select a Personal Identification Number (PIN) after you receive your EBT training and will have your card activated.
Electronics Benefits Transfer (EBT) training is held daily at 9:00 am and 4:00 pm at the 300 N. Duke Street location and lasts about 45 minutes. You must register to attend the class.
