In fiscal year 2005-2006, a Memorandum of Understanding was established between The Durham Center and CJRC to provide screening and evaluation services for Criminal District Court and psychological evaluations for the Department of Social Services and the Department of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (DJJDP).
This new program is offering Substance Abuse and Mental Health Screenings for District Court, Criminal Justice, and Social Service programs. Court Services staff has the advantage of access to criminal justice and mental health records when making recommendations. The unit also provides forensic screening evaluations for both adult and child populations upon request.
In addition to services provided to DSS, Juvenile Justice, and District Court, Court Services also has staff in the Youth Home and in the Durham County Detention Center to provide consulting and assessment services.
