Results Based Accountability

Imagine a Durham where everyone is safe:

The entire community is concerned about public safety and crime. All Durham residents want a safe community where they are comfortable living, working and playing. The efforts to create this safe community focus simultaneously on reducing the incidence of crime, addressing the root cause of crime and improving the perception of safety throughout the community.

Did You Know?

While violent crime increased from 2005 to 2006, we are projecting a 10 percent decrease in violent crime based on data through August 2007.

Did You Know?

Total property crimes are down slightly from 2005 to 2006 (1.9 percent), but motor vehicle theft is up 22.3 percent.

Did You Know?

In August 2007, the Durham Police Department launched "Operation Bull's Eye," a program to reduce crime and connect residents of Northeast Central Durham with needed services. The Results Based Accountability outcome groups are being asked to assist the operation.

Imagine Durham is our Results Based Accountability (RBA) initiative; a community-wide effort to improve the quality of life in the city and county of Durham. Citizens develop and implement strategies that allow us to measure our progress in the nine outcome areas listed on our home page. Any citizen wishing to become involved in this continuing process can contact Bill Stout, coordinator for the Results Based Accountability Initiative, at wstout@durhamcountync.gov or 919-560-0032.
