Nursing Homes Community Advisory Committee

The Nursing Home Community Advisory Committee’s (CAC) primary function is to maintain the rights of residents living in nursing homes. They serve as the link between the community and the homes, seeking to increase community involvement and, at the same time, promoting community education and awareness of the needs of the resident in these homes.

The committee members are local citizens who are appointed by the Durham County Board of Commissioners as volunteer grassroots advocates for the residents. They receive training and technical assistance from the Region J Ombudsman.

The committee meets monthly (except August and December) on the fourth Tuesday at 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm.

To view nursing home CAC visit reports, please go to http://longtermcare.durhamcountync.info/ and click on Nursing Home Facility Listings on the left column.

For more information, please contact Carmelita Karhoff, Region J Long Term Care Ombudsman, at (919) 558-2714 or email ckarhoff@tjcog.org.
